A Lot is Happening Quickly at Morehead State Cru

Can I be Honest With You… It sounds like you have been around a lot of Christian activities but I’m not sure you’re a follower of Jesus. Would you like to change that?

After our conversation earlier in the day I got to hang out with Jack and his wife at our first weekly meeting pictured above.

Jack threw me for a loop within two minutes of our first conversation. I interjected, “Wait, you’re married? How old are you?”

He was 18 and had been married for one week already.

Listen, I know the script for evangelism to college students and marriage advice is not something I was expecting.

I quickly realized he was a serious young man who wanted to love his wife well, yet was already being hit with his own deficiencies. The fact is, the only way to love your spouse the way God intended is by the power of His Holy Spirit.

“I want to be the man my wife needs me to be”

What should have sounded empowering sounded defeated.

I soon realized that Jack had grown up around Christian activities his whole life but had missed the Gospel. He was trying to live a life in the image of Jesus without Jesus… impossible!

He explained that there were parts of his life that weren’t ready to be presented to God. I wholeheartedly agreed! Our lives will never be presentable to God.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom. 5:8)

Because of your partnership in the Gospel…

I was able to share Jesus with my new friend. Jack has placed Jesus on the throne of his life and the center of his marriage. Praise God!

I am so excited to meet with Jack and his wife later in the week about God’s desire to be glorified in their marriage.

Snapshots of a New Semester

Alice loved meeting the new freshmen. Our annual Glow-in-the-Dark frisbee event attracted more than a hundred students— the most ever!

Since we are talking about Alice. Be praying for our little girl as she started Kindergarten this week. Good news is, she loves it! I just can’t believe she is growing up so fast.

Weekly Meetings provide opportunities to proclaim the gospel and an invitation into deeper community. Frankly, there are times when our meetings are fairly sparse… it’s not about numbers. However, by God’s grace, there are a ton of students attending our meetings right now— as in, more than I’ve ever seen at MSU!

For three weeks in a row we have seen roughly 120 students as we walk through the book of James.

We have a staff team! Hannah (pictured with her thumb up) is now a fully supported staff with Cru. Now we are reaching the campus as a team of three— Hannah, Kelly, and me.

We have already seen this make a significant difference in our women's ministry and I expect to see God do incredible things in her future!
