Kelly Trusts God as We Grow Our Family
Who can find a wife of noble character?
She is far more precious than jewels.
-Proverbs 31:10
Elaine (Kelly’s Doula) talks her through another contraction. Elaine was an answered prayer through this labor experience. If you know someone giving birth in the Lexington/Louisville you can find her information here.
Fears needled our minds earlier this month as we waited on the birth of Addie.
With Alice’s birth 5 years ago it was like nothing went right. That summer Kelly was healing from the physical and emotional trauma of a complicated c-section as Alice cried seemingly nonstop with colic. It was the most stressful, sleep deprived state we had ever been in.
Now in 2024, we begged God to bring peace in a time that could be incredibly chaotic.
Kelly was a Spirit-filled Rockstar!
She had to make decisions trusting God while not knowing the outcome. She was scared that she would put in all of the painful effort of pursuing a VBAC (do your own research) that would just end in another c-section. I could see anxiety constantly eating at her.
As Kelly stepped out in faith, God provided incredible blessing!
The labor went smooth— it was a successful VBAC. (Praise the Lord!)
Addie doesn’t cry very often or very loud (Praise the Lord!)
The last few weeks have been as smooth as they could possibly be while bringing a new life into this world. God has been so good to us as we now parent two beautiful little girls.
However, as excited as I am with this addition to our family I am compelled to praise Jesus for the beautiful wife (inside and out) that God has given me as a partner to grow this family.
This is what Kelly missed with Alice after her labor complications, the chance to cuddle and connect with her new baby. This moment is what we had been praying for for months!
Alice was all smiles when she met her baby sister for the first time.
I know this post is all about Kelly and Addie but I was there, too. Here’s when I got to hold my new little girl for the first time.
